Even though excessive traffic on the roads leads to a jam, but increasing traffic on one’s website or hits as they are called, are always welcome. But untargeted traffic, i.e. the people who stumble on a particular website are of no use since they happen to be there by chance. Such people do not constitute the customer of the site. Targeted traffic consists of users who are actually looking for that very thing which the website deals in. Surprisingly all websites are looking out for such traffic and finding them is the biggest hurdle in the path of the ultimate success of the business. At the end of the day the biggest challenge is to cull out the secrets for getting targeted customers. It is strange how websites claiming to be a know-all tout their strategies through their books as the last word on this topic but are not able to retain any customer. This is because the very structure of their website content does not inspire confidence. On the contrary they give the impression of being get rich quick, fly by night hair brained schemes. The truth is that a product seeks for itself and unless the product is itself first class no amount of advertising is going to do it any good. There being no substitute for hard work one has to literally slog searching for the appropriate and unique key words. This is actually the top secret. Strategic placement of keywords in website content goes a long way in seeking out targeted traffic. Very smartly one has to provide the correct links on each page to ensure targeted traffic. One cannot undermine the role of social networking sites which can be linked to one’s website. Placing great product reviews on discussion forums and bringing out newsletters is also a great way of securing customers. |
